A customer travels on one of MDTA’s toll facilities without a valid E-ZPass transponder.

A Notice of Toll Due is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle and must be paid within 30 days.

After 30 days, a $25 civil penalty is added and the toll notice becomes a citation, which is mailed to the customer.

The customer’s vehicle registration will either be flagged for non-renewal or suspension.

A restoration fee is imposed by MVA and is collected with payment of tolls and fees before registration can be restored.

Driving with a suspended vehicle registration can lead to criminal penalties & loss of driving privileges. Avoid being a Habitual Offender and save money by having a valid
E-ZPass.

After 60 days, the unpaid citation is sent to The Central Collection Unit (CCU). CCU will add a 17% collection fee.

The unpaid citation will remain with the central collection unit for 90 days. If the invoice remains unpaid additional toll enforcement mechanisms commence.
